What Makes Our Workshops Different:

  • Real-world expertise: I’ve worked for many magazines in some of the most visually and emotionally demanding situations on the planet. You’ll learn how to handle light, motion, and meaning with confidence.

  • Cultural depth: We won’t just visit places—we’ll experience them. My approach is immersive. You’ll meet locals, explore traditions, and gain access most tourists never get to see.

  • Personal mentorship: I keep the group small so I can give each person focused attention—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned shooter looking to push your creative limits. And when the ocassion requires I will also have a local photographer helping the students.

  •  Working with Real People: During my story telling workshops we don't hire local models to pose and keep the moment very authentic. When we do use models, it’s only for specific lighting class—either in studio or on-location portrait sessions, where you’ll get hands-on learning methods experience working with strobes and controlled light, as well as street available light.

  • Inspiration and adventure: We chase the moment.  Every day is a mix of planned shoots, spontaneous discovery, and moments that remind us why we fell in love with photography in the first place. This is not a photo tour. It’s a cultural friendship, and photographic adventure—rich with education, real-world shooting, critique sessions, and shared discoveries.

As a documentary photographer & writer when I am out on the streets 90% of my time, I used it to observe and search for the elements that will help me find a person & the right visual. Then from what you see you are able to create words. Words will become sentences then paragraphs. Here are five street-observation triggers for documentary work. 📷✍️ Remember these:

  • Follow where sound is coming from: Voices, music, dogs, arguments, laughter, tools, siren, traffic.
  • Follow the smell: Food, perfume, ocean air, smoke. Scent can lead to places where life is happening.
  • The way the sun light is landing: Light defines mood, shapes, faces, geometrics, and reveals scenes worth photographing.
  • Observe when the town market opens: Beginnings of daily routines, hustles & movements & interactions..
  • Observe the moment before it rains: People will be rushing and opening their umbrellas. Anticipation creates stories.
